The High-A Myrtle Beach Pelicans won at Potomac on Monday, getting a fantastic effort from hurlers Nick Martinez and Jon Edwards. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's minor league action in the Texas Rangers system.

AAA: Round Rock 9 – (@) Albuquerque 10

Playing in the high-altitude environment in Albuquerque, the Express and Isotopes combined for 19 runs in Monday’s back-and-forth affair.

Round Rock starting pitcher Scott Richmond was tagged for six runs in six innings of work to begin the game. Reliever Nate Robertson then gave up four runs in 2.1 innings.

Albuquerque won it in walkoff fashion, getting a bases-loaded walk with Ryan Rodebaugh on the mound.

Express designated hitter Mike Bianucci raised his batting average to .241 by going 2-for-5 with his fifth double and his second home run.

Jim Adduci (2/4, 3B) and Aaron Cunningham (1/3, 3B, 2 BB) both tripled once. Leury Garcia (1/3, 2B, BB), Mike Olt (1/4, 2B, BB), and Jose Felix (2/4, 2B) all added one double apiece.

The Texas League began its All-Star break on Monday.

The Pelicans improved to 3-1 in the second half behind a strong effort from starter Nick Martinez and reliever Jon Edwards.

Martinez, who improved to 6-4 on the year, allowed two runs on six hits in six innings of work. He struck out eight and walked one.

Edwards picked up his third save by hurling three innings of no-hit relief. He kept the P-Nats off the scoreboard while walking one and fanning five.

Red-hot second baseman Rougned Odor bumped his average to .293 by going 3-for-4 with his 21st double.

Jake Skole (1/4, HR) belted his second home run––a solo shot––while first baseman Trever Adams (2/4) singled twice in four at-bats.

Hickory starting pitcher C.J. Edwards lowered his ERA to 2.03 on Monday by hurling five innings and yielding one run. Edwards gave up four hits and struck out six without issuing a walk.

Meanwhile, right fielder Nomar Mazara went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, giving him 15 on the year. Leadoff man Nick Williams was 2-for-3 with his seventh triple and two walks.

Luis Marte (2/4) singled twice and stole two bases. He now has 12 steals.

Right-hander Tyler Smith, who began the season in Hickory’s rotation, followed Edwards with two shutout frames. Cody Kendall suffered the loss, however, when he gave up two runs––one earned––in two innings.

Spokane speedy leadoff man Chris Garia helped the Indians walk off with the victory by socking his third home run in the last two days. Overall, Garia was 3-for-5 with a double, that home run, and a base on balls. He also stole his fourth base.

Indians starting pitcher Kelvin Vasquez allowed one run on five hits in four innings, walking one and fanning four. Travis Dean then struck out two in two scoreless frames.

Cam Schiller (2/3, 2B) and Ryan Cordell (1/5, 2B) both doubled while catcher Kevin Torres (1/5, 3B) tripled.

RK: Surprise Rangers – OFF

The Rookie Rangers had Monday off.

DSL: DSL Rangers 4 – (@) DSL Marlins 1 (13 innings)

With the game knotted at one in the top of the 13th, shortstop Juremi Profar cleared the bases with a three-run triple to lead the Dominican Rangers to their 16th victory in 20 games.

Long before the game ended, right-hander Omarlin Lopez allowed one run on four hits in 5.1 innings. He struck out four without walking a batter.

The bullpen trio of Albert Decena (3.2 IP), Felix Carvallo (2 IP), and Dario Beltre (2 IP) then combined to toss 7.2 frames of shutout relief. Decena was particularly impressive, striking out five.

The Rangers got two singles from Jesus Martinez (2/6), Carlos Arroyo (2/4), Elio Castillo (2/5, BB), and Brallan Perez (2/5).

Perez’s average fell to .426 in the game.

Arroyo, who raised his average to .325, stole two bases to give him nine this year.
